A jazzy night with Karen Mok at Venetian Macao

The Hong Kong star stopped at Macau for her 50-show world tour this July and performed songs from jazz pieces to her biggest hits and classics.

It has been 25 years and over 30 albums since Hong Kong singer-actress Karen Mok Man-wai made her debut in the entertainment industry. To mark this milestone, the sultry voiced, three-time Golden Melody Award winner staged the Macao stop of her 50-show “The Ultimate Karen Mok Show World Tour 2018” at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Arena on July 21.

Mok looked glamorous in a dazzling gown that reflected the sophistication of the show’s production, and opened it by singing Let There Be Light, from her latest album, “Half Time”. She then delighted fans with a few uptempo tunes, such as Beat Your Drum and Sing Your Song, No Intermission and If You Love Me, Raise Your Hand.

Mok then went on to perform jazzy numbers such as Twelfth Floor, Overcast and Oh Lonely Lovers, and then thrilled the audience with popular love songs such as Growing Fond of You, He Loves Me Not and Hiroshima Mon Amour. Mok also showed off her musical talents on the piano, guzheng and in a drum-jamming session with musical director and drummer Arai Soichiro.

For the encores, the superstar appeared with her band and dancers in “Ultimate Karen Mok Team” soccer team jerseys, to sing Fruits of Mid Summer, and then invited the audience to sing along as she sang her biggest hits, such as Reasons To Be Strong and Radio Love Songs. The night ended with a standing ovation for Mok’s classics. Heartfelt and Suddenly.
