Nano bags are now every fashionista's favourite

Size really matters when making a fashion statement

Nanobags from Dior, Louis Vuitton, Fendi

Tiny bags have become enormously popular – a trend that’s set tongues wagging.

These microbags are so small that it’s impossible to fit anything into them but bare essentials. Despite the size, all the “in” girls are now sashaying around town with a tiny bag hanging daintily off their arm.

Kendall Jenner has often been seen carrying one or another version of Céline’s Mini Luggage Shoulder Bags; Chiara Ferragni prefers to strut between fashion shows with her Fendi Micro Peekaboo; Emilia Clarke was spotted with a mini Lady Dior bag at Paris Fashion Week; while Miranda Kerr appears to be in love with her Louis Vuitton Petite Malle clutch.

Beautifully executed, nano bags and microbags exude a certain laissez-faire  ttitude and girlish charm. Our favourite picks, below, illustrate that good things really do come in small packages.

Best ... Micros We Want to Bag

Big, wide straps are paired with small, dainty bags at Burberry. The vibrant colours are juxtaposed with luxurious gold, creating a captivating effect.

No one does sleek minimalism quite like Céline, and its Nano Luggage Shoulder
Bags and Micro Luggage Handbags are a cut above the rest. The brand plays with a different colour palette in its spring collection, pairing black with electric yellow, and vibrant magenta with black and light beige.

Chanel’s spring/summer 2017 collection features an eclectic mix of bags in solid
colours and with plenty of fine detailing. The label’s new novelty shoulder bags stand out from the crowd in bright pink and turquoise, and with boxy, grid-like designs. These bright and beautiful micros are perfect for the summer.

The highlight of Dior’s spring/summer 2017 collection were minaudières inspired by tarot cards. These clutches, featuring engraved metal and enamel detailing, were paired with chunky straps for an interesting contrast. Of course, Dior’s small Diorama and mini Lady Dior bags never go out of style.

Dolce & Gabbana

It’s obvious that D&G likes to have fun: Its spring 2017 collection was inspired by the theme “Tropico Italiano” and highlighted bright, colourful tiny bags that were girly, flirty, and – most importantly – stylish. Tiny bags decorated with floral and ocean motifs caught our eye, and those which sported bold metallic tones.

Fendi continues to win fans with its adorable Micro Peekaboo bags, which again hit the runway during spring/summer 2017. Also on the runway was the Mini Kan I bag, which the house says is “ready to become the new obsession of the young and cool women”.

Louis Vuitton

You can’t go wrong with the Petite Malle bag from Louis Vuitton’s autumn/winter 2016 collection. These bags are just 18cm long, 12cm tall and 4cm wide, but their slimness is hardly a worry when they look so good. If that’s not small enough for you, try out the new, runway rocking Petite Malle mobile phone cases from the spring/summer 2017 collection.

Microbags from Valentino Garavani’s spring/summer 2017 collection feature bold colours, studs and, sometimes, geometric designs. The effect is elegant, yet infused with girlish charm.
