Sands China welcomes the Year of the Pig with festivities
On February 6, Sands China Ltd ushered in the Year of the Pig with traditional cultural ceremonies across its properties, with a flurry of colourful performances, blessings and auspicious rituals.
Sands China executives kicked off the event with worship rituals, lion and dragon eye-dotting ceremonies, followed by the traditional lion and dragon dances at Sands Resorts Macao and Sands Macao. The jovial festivities saw guests enjoying themselves and participating for good luck in the new year. Sands China also participated in the Macao Government Tourism Office’s Lunar New Year parade with colourful floats.
“Sands China is very pleased with all the dedicated efforts of our team members in 2018,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “The company wishes for the Year of the Pig to be a prosperous one for our team members and for all of Macao. We hope Macao continues taking large strides establishing itself as a world centre of tourism and leisure, and we wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year.”
Lion and dragon dances traditionally ward off bad vibes and invite good luck for the Lunar New Year. With the cheerful atmosphere created by the day’s festivities, Sands China Ltd is poised for an auspicious year ahead.
