Sands Macao Fashion Week and La Perla take city by storm

The Italian fashion house unveils its spring 2017 collection to open the first Sands Macao Fashion Week

The inaugural Sands Macao Fashion Week made global headlines, with Italian luxury lifestyle and fashion brand La Perla opening the event by showing its new collections at a star-studded event at The Venetian Macao on October 19.

La Perla creative director Julia Haart introduced the collection, explaining that the concept for the 2018 collection comes from the juxtaposing properties that exist in stones: "the resilient and fragile, fixed and fluid, matter and motion."

"I am honoured to bring La Perla to this global destination for fashion and luxury,” Haart said.  “We are a fashion house with many homes, and no borders.”

The gala evening saw an opulent dinner party for around 200 VIPs, guests, media and key fashion commentators from around the world and featured a show with the new spring/summer 2018 collection from La Perla highlighting 70 ready-to-wear and haute couture looks.

Celebrity models leading the runway included Natasha Poly and Liu Wen, while in the audience were renowned actress Fan Bing Bing together with actor and model Hu Bing. Other guests included model You Tian Yi, actress Chen Shu, and Chinese rap star BrAnT.B, Hong Kong celebrity couple actor and musician Palmerson Sinn Lap Man and singer and television presenter Paisley Wu Pui Wei, host of television show Asia’s Next Top Model Cindy Bishop and Hong Kong model and TV presenter Cara G.

Sands Macao Fashion Week ran from October 19–24, showcasing the many leading luxury and lifestyle fashion brands across Shoppes at Four Seasons, Shoppes at Venetian, Shoppes at Parisian and Shoppes at Cotai Central, as well as supporting Macao’s cultural and creative industries and providing a platform for local designers.

The six days of fashion events and promotions included the ‘Walk on Water’ runway, along with boutique shows specially created over the canals of Shoppes at The Venetian, Shoppes at Parisian shows highlighted current collections.
